The Sunday Currently Vol. 21

So, today, I woke up with a residual pounding headache that I got yesterday afternoon and suffered throughout all day yesterday. I chanced not drinking coffee until like 3pm and look where it got me! I took the most Advil I’d taken in a day in my life, and yet.

The pain remained, waking me up in the middle of the night. I thought of taking another Advil so I could sleep in peace, but when I Googled the safe Advil dosage, I found side effects instead. And it said that the medication I wanted to take for my pounding headache may cause… severe headaches. Sounds fake, but okay. Anyway, I ended up falling asleep on my own, waking up to something like a hangover, except I’ve been sober for weeks. I don’t know what that was about, but I’m never going to attempt going through my morning without coffee.

Not reading anything much at the moment, though I did start on Barry Schwabsky’s Words for Art a few weeks ago, when I had overestimated my current comprehension levels. I might reread Jandy Nelson’s I’ll Give You the Sun, since it’s a book club book (for the 21st!) but I’ll probably end up reading something else. I’m kind of itching for a bit of fiction, though I’ve got Maggie Nelson’s The Argonauts waiting for me, currently. I think I need a break from nonfic, so I’ll edit this later with the title I end up picking up.

I’ve got 3 pieces due this week, but I’m writing some blog posts to breathe life into my sad little beauty blog.

I’m actually wearing earphones. But not listening to anything. Does anyone else do this? I don’t know why I do this.

Although, my current jam: EL VY’s “Return to the Moon (Political Song for Didi Bloome to Sing, with Crescendo)” which is amazing. EL VY is a side project by Matt Berninger, my love, and Brent Knopf of Menomena.

OK, so I watched a play called No Filter on Friday, and it’s mostly comprised of monologues written by different millennials (I am on the path to hating this word), and I was just thinking about how nice it was that I immediately recognized the voices of the people who wrote my favorite bits, “The First You” and “Moving Out.” It was a pretty good play, though I didn’t relate to a lot of it. I mean, I didn’t expect to, but it was a good thing to see with your sister and your best friend, so I didn’t mind at all.

Haha this is a bit random, but I guess I have a lot of angst related to creative work and the respect that’s given (or not given?) to it. And I wish more people valued it, but well, what can you do.

For the best, just hoping nothing happens. A thousand clever lines unread on clever napkins. /is 15 again.

I saw Trainwreck with my sister yesterday and it was pretty great. I’m not sure if I could call it amazing, but I am suddenly in (a lot like) love with Brie Larson, Bill Hader, and Lebron frakking James.

Probably to eat breakfast/lunch, yikes.

A little better, in terms of life stuff, I guess. Let’s see how long this lasts. I’m going to try and get stuff done before this crest turns back into a trough.

Just a few today.

Hope your Sunday’s a good one.
