The Sunday Currently Vol. 13

It’s still Sunday in some parts of the world, right?

Reading

I’m still stuck in the middle of Yes Please (I don’t know why this has been such a slow-going process, honestly…) and Colin Meloy’s Wildwood, which is a fantastic children’s/intermediate reader’s/don’t-make-me-pick-a-genre story. It follows the story of Prue, a Portland native, whose on a rescue mission in the Impassable Wilderness. The story is told in shifting perspectives between Prue and her school friend, Curtis, and is interspersed with beautiful illustrations by Carson Ellis, who happens to be Colin Meloy’s wife. I’m looking forward to finishing both books soon.

I sort of started John Darnielle’s Wolf in White Van, which Cat sent me, and I haven’t gotten into the meat of it just yet, but I just wanted to mention it to also remind myself to finally give it a proper read.

Also, apparently, April is National Poetry Month in the U.S. I found out from Z. I think I’m going to write a post about my favorite poetry books… at least in my possession. I don’t have many because the poetry sections in our bookstores are pretty dismal, but I’m going to try to see if I can wrangle up a decent number.

Writing

Oooh, boy. Next question.

Listening

Recently, I’ve been listening to a lot of Voxtrot, Interpol, and Death Cab for Cutie. Pretty much songs I listened to a lot between high school and today. I did give Death Cab’s new album, Kintsugi, a half-hearted listen and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet.

I learned what “kintsugi” means, though.

Thinking

“Oh no, Monday!”

Smelling

I went into the Diptyque boutique in Central Square, Taguig and sniffed what I’m pretty sure was “Eau de Lierre,” and fell in love. I’m going to have to go back and make sure it’s the correct scent, heh heh…

Wishing

My dog’s gunky eye would get better. :(

Hoping

My motivation will make an appearance tomorrow. I mean, I’m hoping. But I know I should force it somehow?

Wearing

Really old pambahay. OH, I wore grey lipstick today. Very Easter.

Loving

I recently pulled my Canon S100 out from retirement because I realized I couldn’t afford to buy another portable point-and-shoot while I had this one rotting away in my drawer. I gotta say—it ain’t half-bad!

Wanting

It always strikes me as a little weird that my want to get things done always happens in the middle of the night. Or in this case: at about half past two in the morn. I gotta quit this life!

Needing

To sleep, probably. I also need to stop making myself be a morning person when I am clearly not.

Feeling

A little helpless, to be honest!

Clicking

I mean, if this doesn’t cheer you up, I don’t know what will.
