This next post will fool you into thinking I have a life (YAAAAS~!). I had lunch with my sister and Isa, who recently moved alllll the way down south. This is the first time I’ve seen her since even before we left for the US. SO, COMPLETELY OVERDUE.
I know I am a self-proclaimed shut-in, but I had a really great time at the Artwork Collab! + Collab! Launch at 12/10 and Restock along Guijo Street. We got the invite a few weeks ago and it looked like this:
Artwork Collab! + Collab! is a new collection of shirts for which they asked 10 of the country’s best visual artists to collaborate with each other to make some shirts. I don’t know about you, but a large chunk of my t-shirt arsenal (back when I wore them a lot more often) was from Artwork. The launch was held at 12/10, a new restaurant from the owners of The Girl + the Bull, and Restock Gallery.
There are a total of 10 shirts—two designs for each pair. The pairs are Ryan and Garovs Vergara, Mariano Ching and Yasmin Sison, Ryan Villamael and Romeo Lee, Dex Fernandez and Lynyrd Paras, and JP Cuison and Apol Sta. Maria.
All the shirts!
It’s like they’re friends or something?
The shirts are available in Artwork stores today and they come in three cuts: regular, ladies cut (flowy-er), and a sleeveless shirt. Here are iterations of all the designs and all of the cuts, though each design comes in all three cuts:
The Restock bear is super cute.
I got one of Dex & Lynyrd’s designs and this new air plant from Isa, to replace the last one I murdered. It’s from Space Garden.
Thank you for the invite, Tinay! Congratulations to you and Artwork, as well as all the amazing artists that were a part of it.
Something cool: we got to taste 12/10! Here is the really freaking good menu for the event:
A choice between four drinks. We got an old-fashioned and a daiquiri.
OK, I’m going to warn you now. These are NOT the best food shots, lol. As if you needed telling, but there.
Raw Tuna Salad. Soooo good, even though I’m not much of a mayo person. It’s kind of buried in tons of nori and panko (I think? Maybe?) crumbs, aka the best kind of pile there is.
Mushroom Salad. Such a lovely mix of flavors. I told my sister that I was getting tired of mushrooms (???) but this completely changed my mind.
Salmon Kushiyaki. First bite is truffle & sea salt = YAY FOR ME. Second bite is curry = DOUBLE YAY FOR ME. I don’t particularly like salmon but I could probably eat a dozen sticks of this and not get tired of it.
Korean Fried Chicken. I liked the taste of this, and I love that they’re boneless (haha). The roasted eggplant puree, if I remember correctly, adds a lovely hint of smokiness that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Here’s something not surprising: I am not a connoisseur of food, to speak generally… and truthfully. But, I do know what tastes good to me and I was so thankful I got to taste some of 12/10’s food. I still haven’t eaten in The Girl + The Bull, which is all the way in Alabang, but I would go there if only for the Faux Twix Bar. hey served at 12/10 for this event but won’t be making an appearance on their menu. I mean, look at it:
It’s got a lovely caramel layer that’s not too sweet over a type of biscuit, and topped a generous coating of dark chocolate sprinkled with a shit ton of sea salt. I ate three of these and I’m not even sorry.
Guess what? One of the owners of The Girl + The Bull and 12/10 was a student of mine, haha. Congratulations Thea and Gab!
Then, we went to go see the new shows that opened at Silverlens: Gregory Halili’s Memento, Rachel Rillo’s flower flies mimic wasps, and Gene Paul Martin’s Homemade Drill. They’ll be on display until December 20.

I was bringing this around the whole day, lol.
Chai Chocolate Latte & a Bucky’s and Cream brownie at Toby’s.
Probably one of the funnest days as of late, and that means a lot coming from a misanthrope like me. Just kidding, I like people. I do!
Oh, and Happy belated Thanksgiving! I was surprised that so many of my friends celebrated Thanksgiving, but any time of the year that’s reserved for thinking about things you are thankful for is great in my mind. :)
